Understanding The True Place Of Estimates And Spare Parts In Car Repair
By: Eurotechco.com

Cars tend to have recurrent and non-recurrent expenses and it is important for car owners to be able to be able to foot their car bills when they come around. Since money is not always available, they normally request to receive estimates from their chosen service providers. An estimate for collision repair work can vary between service providers and it is up to the car owner to decide which car service provider to work with. The main difference between reputable auto service providers and dicey ones is that reputable service estimates are more realistic. This is because; motor vehicle service providers who are out to accumulate customers normally attract them with low estimates. Once they have submitted their cars for work, the estimates begin to climb upwards on the pretext that “new damages” where “discovered” on the car.

Car owners need to be aware of those body shops that claim to save them deductibles from their insurance company. This should be seen for what it is, a ploy to get more customers using any means possible. This would mean ripping off the insurance company on behalf of their customers by refusing to pick the deductible payment. This can also mean that the service provider is not intending to complete their allotted work or worse still, find a way to hide the so called “saving” into other charges. This is a much concealed method of trying to hoodwink customers into thinking that they are saving whereas they are not. Customers should always place themselves in the position of these businesses and understand that it is not practicable or possible to do this kind of waiver unless the gains are being made through some other hidden channels. At the end of the day for any business, they need to make their profit and customers should be careful about over generous promises.

When it comes to spare parts, motor vehicle owners must be cautious especially when they visit motor repair shops that do not have clean reputations. This is because; two kinds of games can be played with their spare parts. Firstly, unless the customer is very keen, some service providers use old spare parts which they claim are genuine OEM parts. Secondly, they manage to repair the old spare part and retain it inside the customer’s vehicle but charge the customer for a new one anyway. These are things that are difficult for a customer to verify. They can however ask for documentation regarding the parts that have been used as replacements on their car. Car owners must also ask questions regarding the technical language that has been used to describe the parts used in their estimates. For example words like “imitation” can be used to mean used spare parts. At the end of the day, the decision to work with genuine or aftermarket spare parts rests entirely in the hands of the car owner, their car insurance and personal budget.
